ABOUT THE MAY TEAM OF THE MONTH

Will Apotsos has performed superbly as a goalkeeper for the 2007 boys this season and was instrumental in recent wins against Downtown United, Chelsea Piers and in a hard fought 1-1 tie versus AC Connecticut.   He has also supplemented these GK displays with some fine performances on the field.

Zach Sullivan undertook the task of mastering a new position at Right Back during May and did a great job. He played well and showed composure and understanding of his new position to a high level. Zach also was called upon to play in the goal when needed and made a lot of great saves throughout the month and the Needham Tournament.

Erving Henderson has been fantastic throughout May, playing on the left-hand side for his team and getting up and down the line lots, with an abundance of energy and assists.

James Lambert's play throughout the year has been exceptional, he has been a leader for his team, and anchored a very strong defensive unit, not only in May but also throughout the year. His composure on the ball and ability to play out of the back, coupled with his tenacity and defensive prowess, have been great to see. James will be hoping to secure a spot on the MCLA mens roster this Fall and we wish him all the best.

Marcella Tenuta has enjoyed a good season for the 2004 Girls team, but was exceptional and took her play to another level throughout the 2004 girls trip to the finals of the Needham Memorial Tournament. Congratulations Marcella on a great May, your play completely justifies this nomination.

Nicky Huertas was the linchpin for the Tournament winning 2003 Boys at Needham, transitioning between Defence and Attack. Was a leader on the field, and has contributed with goals and assists throughout.

Olivia Ruggiero played well and linked the defence to the attack for a successful 2004 girls team. Unfortunately the girls fell just short of another tournament win, losing in the final, however Olivia’s play shouldn’t go unrewarded throughout the month of May.

Lucien Firth showed his versatility throughout May, however, always excelled when playing in the #7 role. His goal in a 1-0 final win over NY Elite was the difference in the two sides but his energy and work rate lead the way for his team to secure a tournament win.

Tyler Bedortha has played with great consistency in practices and games throughout the month of May.  At the Needham Memorial Tournament, his goalscoring prowess was integral to the team in all three games.

Olivia Gamberoni was a constant threat, great on the ball and produced a number of goals and assists throughout May.

Ousseni Bouda scored back-to-back hat tricks and a league-leading 8 goals by the end of May

Honorable Mention: Kyle Roth, in the semifinals of the Needham tournament, saved two Penalties to advance the 2003 boys to the final, one an unbelievable upper 90 save out of nowhere! His play throughout the weekend allowed for his team to grow in confidence and stature and bring home a Tournament win!
